Senior Community Service Employment Program

Share This: Facebook Twitter Share on Linkedin Share on Google Plus email email

Created in 1965, SCSEP is the nation’s oldest program to help low-income, unemployed individuals aged 55+ find work. SCSEP matches eligible older adults with part-time training assignments for non-profit organizations. Participants build skills and self-confidence, while earning a modest income. For most, their SCSEP experience leads to permanent employment.

You will work an average of 20 hours a week and earn whichever is highest—the federal, state, or local minimum wage.

Community & Family Services, Inc. provides the Senior Community Services Employment Program (SCSEP) to the following counties: Blackford, Delaware, Grant, Jay County, and Madison County.

Who is eligible for SCSEP?

To be eligible for SCSEP, you must be:

  • 55 or older
  • Unemployed
  • Living on a family income of no more than 125% of the federal poverty level

How do I apply for SCSEP?

To receive an application and more information about what is available to you within your county, call (260) 726-9318 and press 5. Our SCSEP Director will send you an application in the mail and more information about how you can become a SCSEP participant!
